Itinerary

Your tour begins with pickup from your Kochi hotel in a private vehicle. Proceed toward Fort Kochi, the historic heart of the city, where narrow lanes and colonial-era buildings reflect centuries of maritime exchange.
Start at the waterfront to view the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets, introduced by traders from the court of Kublai Khan in the 14th century. These massive cantilevered structures remain operational and continue to support local fishermen. The shoreline offers a vivid reminder of Kochi’s historic trade connections.

Continue on foot to St. Francis Church, built in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan friars and recognized as the oldest European church in India. The church is historically significant as the original burial site of Vasco da Gama before his remains were transferred to Portugal. The surrounding cemetery contains graves of Portuguese officers and colonial-era residents.

Next, visit the grand Santa Cruz Basilica, one of the most architecturally impressive churches in India. Its white exterior with twin spires contrasts beautifully with its richly decorated interior featuring frescoes, murals and biblical artwork.Proceed to Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace), constructed by the Portuguese and presented to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. The palace is renowned for its detailed Kerala-style murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, offering a fascinating blend of European structure and Indian artistry.

Adjacent to the palace is the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest active synagogue in South India. Admire its ornate brass pulpit, Belgian glass chandeliers and hand-painted Chinese porcelain tiles that reflect the long-standing Jewish presence in Kochi.
Conclude your visit with a walk through Jew Town, historically a major center for the spice trade. The air is filled with the aroma of ginger, cardamom, turmeric and cloves, echoing Kochi’s centuries-old role in global commerce.
At the end of the tour, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.
